How to choose the perfect wedding video company

How to choose the perfect wedding video company

One of the most important things to consider on your big day is the video.  After all, the video provides one of the best mementos of the wedding, and is something that you'll be able to watch and enjoy for the rest of your happy life together.  However, it's important to ensure that you choose the right wedding video company to shoot it, otherwise the results might not be what you really want. These tips should help you make that decision.

Always ask for demonstrations of previous work

Needless to say, it's very important to be able to verify that the company has already produced a number of high quality previous videos for other customers.  Absolutely any company worth their salt will be happy to provide you with some previous examples.

Get the right style

Though the ceremonies might vary, it's common for different companies to have developed their own unique video style.  For some companies, this might be a knack for creating sweet, romantic videos, whereas others might focus on providing a video that’s simply great fun to watch. You need to ensure that the company you work with is skilled in creating the style of video you’d like to end up with.

Communication skills

It's important to ensure that the company you work with is able to get on well with everyone on the day, and is able to communicate their needs with everyone without causing any unnecessary stress.  Effective communication means that the day will run more smoothly, which is ideal.  Videographers will need to be able to work alongside a number of other important people, such as the photographer and the master of ceremonies, so a professional attitude is essential.

Ensure the equipment is of the necessary standard

It's important to make sure that all of the equipment the company uses is of a high standard so that the very best results possible are obtained.  As well as ensuring that the cameras are of a suitably high quality, it's important that there is a professional level microphone being used. If there wasn't a high quality microphone in place, then the ceremony might be rendered in full HD video, but it might not be possible to hear the vows!  Ask the company to provide details on the audio equipment that will be used to capture the ceremony.

Which format will be used?

In today's digital world, there are a whole lot of potential formats that the wedding can be provided in.  Some people will prefer a classic DVD.  For others, a more modern solution such as blu-ray would be preferable.  Other people will also want to have a digital copy in case the original disc is accidentally damaged.  It's important to check with the company which formats they're happy to provide the video in, and whether they're ok with providing more than one.  It's also worth asking about specific details such as how long the video will be, will what sort of title menu will be in place, will music be added and other things that will help to make the experience more unique.
