Wedding Fayres

Wedding Fayres

Simply Wedding Movies attended the Wedding Fayre of  'Invitation only' to Friern Manor today.

The wedding Fayre was open between 10am & 4pm and was purely for couples who had booked the venue for their wedding day. All the recommended suplliers were there... But the question is...... What do couples ACTUALLY look for when selecting their suppliers??

As a videography supplier, its great to show couples weddings we have filmed at their venue before. At least they can get a feel of how their tables will be displayed, flowers arranged, where photos will be taken and where guests will go etc.... You can actually 'Imagine' your day and how it will be....But still a lot of couples dismiss the idea of having their most special day captured forever!

Of course, we will be biased.. Having your wedding day filmed IS important, but it isn't for everyone...but what will you have to look back on in 20 years time? Something to show future grandchildren....A photograph is lovely and a true necessity.. but a film...captures movement,  sounds...and the true ambience of your wedding day...

Im guessing its the same for other suppliers, but every exhibitor wlll put hours of work into their 'stand' at a wedding fayre. And of course they will have to pay to be there. Depending on where the wedding fayre is.. This isn't cheap!  Alas, all suppliers in the wedding industry are happy to work hard to make their stand ....'STAND" out from everyone else!! BUT what is it that will actually make you think...yes....I need them!!!!

A few ideas that we chose to do were:

- A price list (most couples would want to know how much!)

- A sample of their work ( with us a demo dvd, but could be a taster of cake, sample of colour ribbons for chair covers etc...)

- A special offer / discount

- Bag of sweets! (everyone likes a bit of chocolate!!)

And of course, we are friendly, approachable people who are married and like to talk weddings!!...so that must be a good sign!!??

I know people do not like to be 'jumped' upon when just browsing... We, personally feel the same when looking around, say a 'furniture showroom'.... I just want to look!! This is why we offer a discount to couples who can go home and think about their choices. ( and munch over the tasty sweets in their goody bag!!) :-)

Another question would be, 'what if we could offer our services for free, in prize draw'..Would you still consider??

I think the answer would still be questionable..... Do I actually want / need this service? its, free, but I don't like myself on film...or, i dont like my make up done by anybody else etc.......

I think at the end of the day, specials offers are only that if you actually would like / need the service provided.. Then its a bonus...But its always a good thing if a venue / friend had recommended someone.. We have heard many a time...my only regret was not having a videograher...I wish I could hear my Dads speech again.....I cant remember my actual vows....The day went soo fast, what did my guests do while we had photos taken?....What did my band sound like ?.......

So... Wedding fayres can be a good thing... you get to meet the actual people who could be involved in your special day, collect a few freebies along the way and chat to people who truely know how a wedding day works!! (And eat cake!!!)
